Strong messaging for Trump at RNC

Donald Trump in cheese created for an RNC party at On Tap, a restaurant inside the Brewhouse Inn & Suites on 10th St. in Milwaukee.

Welcome to Message Monday!

The Republican National Convention (RNC) is happening this week in Milwaukee.

Donald Trump may spew a lot of lies, but at the same time, he is a master of political messaging.  You see this to great effect in the daily themes they have created for the convention.  They are:

Day 1:  Make America Wealthy Again (the economy)

Day 2:  Make America Safe Again (crime, border security, immigration)

Day 3:  Make America Strong Again (national security, foreign policy, Gaza)

Day 4:  Make America Great Again (“a new golden age for America”)

These themes play off his key slogan, Make America Great Again, which could hardly be more embedded in the minds of his fans.  He is also rolling them out in order of importance to voters. And he ends with a summation, a vision of what we on the left sometimes call “the beautiful tomorrow.”  The themes endow the key policy themes with great emotional resonance.

If they were really smart, they’d use these themes for TV spots.

I am not going to contrast this with what passes for messaging from the Democratic Party.  Because that would be depressing.
